Gerard Lopez

 

Gerard Lopez is an entrepreneur, businessman and technologist based in Luxembourg. He is a founding partner of Genii Capital. Lopez is Chairman of the Lotus F1 Team which is wholly owned by Genii Capital, where he chairs the Board. He is also the co-founder and managing partner of Mangrove Capital Partners, a leading venture capital firm specialising in technology. 

 
Gerard has started and run a number of businesses including a pioneering web development company, Icon Solutions, and a leasing company, ProLease; both businesses were successfully sold after 18 months. 
Gerard founded Mangrove Capital Partners in 1998. The firm discovered and became a key investor in more than 40 companies since then including Skype, Lumension, WooMe and Brands4Friends. Skype was sold for US$3 billion as one of Mangrove's major success investment.
 
In 2008, he co-founded Genii Capital with Eric Lux. As well as Genii Capital, Gerard sits on the board of Mangrove Capital Partners, Wix, Zink Imaging, Lotus F1 Team, Lotus Group International and WooMe, as well as being a member of the Advisory Council for Miami University Business School. He is a founder of the Act Mangrove Charity foundation promoting education for under developed countries.
 
Gerard Lopez graduated from Miami University with a Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems and Operational Management with major in Mathematics and Statistics. He is fluent in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Luxembourgish.
