Juan Zavalia

 

Juan Zavalia is responsible for Genii Capital energy and natural resources activity and is based in Geneva. He is the co-founding partner of East Quogue Capital Partners Ltd. (EQC), an energy hedge fund with a core focus on energy infrastructure and renewable sources. 

 
Before this, Juan was a Managing Director at Helvetica WMP AG, an asset management firm based in Geneva, where he was responsible for corporate and advisory services and a member of the investment committee with a special focus on energy strategies. Juan moved to Helvetica WMP AG from the Barclays Capitals’ Energy Investment Banking Group in New York, where he covered the US Oil & Gas sector. Prior to this, Juan worked at Merrill Lynch & Co in their Institutional and Corporate Client Group covering energy names in Latin America. 
 
Juan has extensive execution experience in mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and capital market transactions, as well as hedging and liability management. Before moving to New York, he worked at Banco Frances in Buenos Aires, one of the largest privately held banks in Argentina, which at the time was managed and owned by his family, before selling it in 1998 to BBVA. 
 
Juan Zavalia has a BSc in Economics from the University of London – Queen Mary and Westfield College. He is fluent in English, French and Spanish.
